What about living in the UK?

The cultural and social aspects are covered in the induction programme. At this stage remember to pack warm clothing for winter and light clothing for summer!

What sort of costs will I incur in my studies?

It is difficult to be rigid in estimating costs as we all have different needs, wants and standards of living.

Examples per annum
Registration Fee - £100
Accommodation - Allow between £60-£100 per week
Food/Travel £50 per week
Books - up to £300 per year
Assessment Fees - These are normally paid by CMC and included In your fees
Leisure - that’s up to you!

Do I need health insurance?

Visitors on a short visit should always have independent health insurance. Students may come from countries with reciprocal health care arrangements with the NHS.

Long term students [1 year plus] should contact local doctors to determine if they are accepting new patients.

Will I have to pay Council Tax?

UK residents pay council tax to cover the cost of local services provided by their local council but students on full time courses in the UK are exempt in most councils from paying Council Tax on a property that they live in.

The Council Tax Office will give you a form and we confirm your full time student status in writing to them. You need to contact your local council for details.
